Documentaries

This section consists of shorts, medium length and films works that through personal and collective stories inquire in the memory and reality of L’Horta, its people and landscapes. The aim is to contribute somehow to the knowledge and conservancy of this ancestral water culture and its huge heritage tied to it.

In many cases the author point of view is clear in this creative documentaries.

What does ‘Esperant l’aigua’ means?

It is an alive film, a socio-demographic process, like Esperant l’aigua (Waiting the water) (2012) and Aigua nova (New Water) (2015), different participatory strategies and player’s involvement strategies are used. Documentary works are built quite independent but at the same time are related to the collective process and communal series: ‘Esperant l’Aigua’. This documentary series is always underway and is highly related to participatory social process and involving communal actions.

Directed by Miguel Ángel Baixauli, documentary series ‘Esperant l’aigua’ is a Precessual cinema film, as we called it. (Please see the article at Políticas de la luz). This socio-cinematic and communal process is following up the documentary process that started with the film Temps d’aigua (Water times, 2009).

This documentary gaze towards L’Albufera rice marshlands at sowing time. We’ll witness the relation between Francesc Moncholí, a young farmer, with an aged and transformed world in the last fifty years. A threatened world by progress over time when a very few farmers, like Francesc, find consciously and voluntarily a life project.

As a result of our participatory experience with a group of inhabitants from Godella, here we have this film. Reading Vicent Andrés Estellés poems is the starting point for the participants to share testimonies about them own lives and them environment, emerging words about the past, present and future of them lifestyle.

Water time is an approach to people who still lives near L’Albufera Lake, to them rhythms and ancient rites. Specially focus in the last natives living in this place, a group of teenagers living near El Tremolar neighborhood and the emergence of new immigrant settlers.
